Dune: Part 2 Is Probably Happening, According to WarnerMedia Studios CEO

Dune is back, with a TV series in development at WarnerMedia Studios. The show will be the first of its kind to combine live-action and animation into one versatile production that can tell many different stories.

The “dune part two cast” is the latest news on Dune: Part 2. The WarnerMedia Studios CEO has said that they are probably going to make a sequel to Dune: Part 1, and it will happen soon.

Regardless of whether Denis Villeneuve’s new big-budget adaptation of Frank Herbert’s legendary sci-fi book Dune succeeds or flops at the movie office, a sequel is almost certain. This is according to Ann Sarnoff, Chair and CEO of WarnerMedia Studios and Networks, who told Deadline during a sit-down interview that everyone who witnessed the film’s finale should know whether a sequel is on the way.

“Will there be a Dune sequel?” You can see how the movie finishes if you watch it. “I believe you very well know the answer to that,” Ann Sarnoff, Chair and CEO of WarnerMedia Studios and Networks, told Deadline yesterday in a sit-down interview on the studio’s complete support for Dune 2. That will be good news for Legendary (who covered the majority of the budget) and director Denis Villeuneve, who has set the stage for a sequel that concentrates on Zendaya’s Chani character as much as Timothee Chalamet’s Paul Atreidis did in the first picture. There was some doubt, but not if you’ve watched Dune on the big screen. The Fellowship of the Rings was the last series to debut with such artistic ambition and sequel possibility.

This is a tremendous relief for not just the film’s fans, but also the filmmakers, who took the risk of starting Dune with a title card that plainly states it’s merely the beginning of a much larger saga. Villeneuve is said to be working on a sequel and a third picture based on Dune Messiah and Children of Dune, respectively.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is less concerned with movie office earnings these days, instead focusing on audience reaction when deciding whether or not to produce a film. Despite the film office failure of Many Saints of Newark (a prequel), the firm is interested in developing another Sopranos series for HBO Max. Sarnoff also said that Warner Bros. would be open to making whatever kind of film that The Matrix Resurrections director Lana Wachowski desired, indicating that another Matrix trilogy is a possibility.

Since its debut yesterday, Dune has earned at least $5.1 million. The film is expected to gross roughly $35 million this weekend, while early ticket sales indicate that the total might be substantially higher.
