Chapter One PS4 Release Date Announced, Xbox Delay

Sony announced their new PS4 Pro console with 4K support and a release date. Xbox One X released on November 7th, 2017 after being delayed from the original September launch window.

Because of the continuing crisis in Ukraine, the developer is presently in a state of disarray and hybrid work, so the PS4 version will be released first, while the Xbox One version will be put on hold forever. Anyone who pre-ordered the Xbox One version of the game may request a refund from the shop, according to the developer. The developer has given a lengthy comment on the subject, which we have included below:

Hello, everyone, particularly those who are anticipating the release of Sherlock Holmes Chapter One for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

We’ve been very silent on the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Sherlock Holmes Chapter One, as several of you have pointed out on our social media. The good news is that Sherlock Holmes Chapter One will be released on PS4 on April 28th, 2022. The bad news is that for the Xbox One version of the game, we had to make a difficult choice. The Xbox One version of Chapter One has been postponed indefinitely due to circumstances beyond our control. Please allow us to explain why.

We worked hard from September of last year till February of 2022 to optimize our game for PC and both old and new generation consoles. During that time, we learned that the project’s scope was far larger than we had anticipated. So we decided last year to release the PS5 and Xbox series X|S versions first, while we worked on improving the previous gen versions. We continued our work on improving the PS4 and Xbox One versions after the validation of Chapter One on current-gen in October. We’ve attempted to get as much information as possible from the elders. A lot of work was done behind the scenes, but it was also obvious in the form of adjustments to the city layout on the PS4 and Xbox One editions so that the game could operate more smoothly (we cut certain alleyways, shortcuts, etc). And then war broke out just as we were coming close to finishing those versions.

To say that the conflict affected us would be the understatement of the decade. Leaving our emotional and mental situations aside, the war had a significant influence on our work. We can release the PS4 version of Chapter One on April 28th, based on where we are currently and the resources and people we have. The Xbox One version, however, will have to be delayed.

To say we’re disappointed is an understatement. Our goal is to have our games available on as many platforms as possible. We realize that many of you are eagerly anticipating the Xbox One version. We’re also dissatisfied since we spent time and money developing this version, which has been placed on indefinite hold. It’s also money that may have been earned in the future, which is crucial for a small company like ours.

What happens now if you pre-ordered the Xbox One edition of the game? You may cancel your purchase and get a full refund, according to Xbox. We realize this isn’t the ending you desired, but we hope it at least clarifies what occurred.
