Paramount Delays Top Gun: Maverick to May 2022 and Mission: Impossible 7 to September 2022

Paramount Pictures has announced that it is delaying the release of Top Gun: Maverick to May 2022 and Mission: Impossible 7 to September 2022. The decision was made by the studio’s new CEO, Jim Gianopulos, who said in a statement “These two films have been planned for some time now and we want to ensure their success. They are both tentpoles with global appeal.”

The top gun: maverick release date is a movie that has been delayed to May 2022. Paramount has also released a new release date for Mission: Impossible 7, which will be released in September 2022.

Fans of Tom Cruise will have to wait a bit to see the daring actor’s next potential blockbuster.

Top Gun: Maverick has been pushed back to May 27, 2022, while Mission: Impossible 7 has been pushed back to September 30, 2022, according to Deadline. Top Gun: Maverick was scheduled to be released on November 19, 2021, a week before Thanksgiving, while Mission: Impossible 7 was meant to be released on the same weekend as Top Gun: Maverick.

Due to the present state of COVID and its Delta version, Paramount has decided to postpone both Top Gun: Maverick and Mission: Impossible 7. Experts think that next year, theatrical attendance will return to some sort of normality.

While Mission: Impossible 7 should be exciting owing to the franchise’s history of death-defying stunts, Top Gun: Maverick seems to be receiving a little more attention due to the franchise’s lengthy hiatus. Tony Scott, Ridley Scott’s brother, helmed the 1983 masterpiece, which he died in 2012. The new sequel is directed by Joseph Kosinski, who also directed TRON: Legacy and Oblivion. It follows a new group of younger pilots.

Cruise lobbied for the return of Val Kilmer, who portrayed fan favorite Iceman in the original film, according to a recent interview with Top Gun director Jerry Bruckheimer. Kelly McGillis, on the other hand, was not welcomed back as Maverick’s love interest. Jennifer Connelly, who portrays a new character called Penny Benjamin, seems to be filling that emotional need. Veteran actor Ed Harris will play a Rear Admiral who will be Maverick’s superior in Top Gun: Maverick.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage was said to be shifting from its most recent Oct. 15 slot between MGM/No UAR’s Time to Die on Oct. 8 and Warner Bros./HBO Max’s Dune on Oct. 22, to Top Gun: Maverick’s pre-Thanksgiving slot. No, as the Culver City studio revealed shortly after Paramount’s announcement that Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be released on November 19th, after the film’s great response at CinemaCon last week.
