One of the most popular free-to-play battle royale games available is Fortnite. With so many different game modes and a slew of different aesthetic skins, it’s understandable that gamers would want to get the most out of their gear. The PS5 version of Fortnite launched with a slew of additional features, including support for the new DualSense controller’s haptic trigger feedback and tighter integration with the PS5 UI’s Activities function.
It’s one thing to enjoy Fortnite’s frantic, high-flying action in 1080p Full HD at 60 frames per second. It’s another thing completely to fully use the PS5’s hardware in order to achieve the finest potential images. Follow these instructions to experience the world of Fortnite on PlayStation 5 the way it was intended to be seen.
How to Get 120 FPS on PS5 in Fortnite
You must first activate performance mode in your console’s settings before you can use 120 FPS mode. If you follow these instructions, the only thing you’ll lose is your Battle Bus team.
- Switch on your PS5.
- Go to the Settings menu.
- Go to Game/App Settings and Save Data.
- Select Game Presets from the drop-down menu.
- Select Performance Mode from the Performance Mode or Resolution Mode drop-down menu.
- Start Fortnite.
- In the upper right corner, click the menu symbol.
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Select Video from the drop-down menu.
- Toggle the 120 frames per second mode on.
- Apply the changes.
It’s worth noting that if your TV and AV configuration don’t support 4K at 120hz, this will have an impact on your game’s output resolution. Before making any major changes, check sure your monitor or display has a refresh rate of at least 120hz. Also, if you don’t see the option to turn 120 FPS mode ON, that means it isn’t accessible.
New Features on Fortnite’s Next-Generation Island
According to Michael House, Epic Games’ community coordinator, “two forms of adaptive trigger feedback for ranged weapons” would be used in Fortnite on PS5. “Weapons that fire once per trigger pull – Pistols, SMGs, Snipers, Assault Rifles, and so on — will utilise trigger pull feedback, which means you’ll feel the true resistance of pushing their triggers as you pull the DualSense trigger.”
House went on to say that weapons that need players to hold down the trigger button for an extended period of time would employ what he refers to as sustained feedback, which means there will be a real resistance, similar to the sensation of pulling back a bow or shooting a minigun. It seems that playing Fortnite on PS5 will be more realistic than ever before.
In fact, House explained in the same PlayStation.Blog article that the PS5 version of Fortnite is not only a transfer of the PS4 version, but one that was created exclusively for the next-gen console. He went on to say that “the Zen 2 CPU + expanded memory allowed us to use dynamic visuals and physics to bring even more life to the Fortnite Island,” as well as that “our work with the PS5’s ultra-high-speed SSD has allowed us to dramatically improve loading performance, improving texture loading and letting you get into matches much faster.”
In any event, now is a terrific time to play Fortnite, whether you’re an early adopter of next-gen gear or you’re still waiting for the proper timing. For more information about Fortnite and other gaming issues, stay tuned to Gamer Journalist!
