Dwayne Johnson’s Video Game Movie Rumored to Be Call of Duty
There are rumors that Dwayne Johnson’s video game movie is Call of Duty.
Disney just bought the rights to a Marvel superhero property with plans on turning it into an MCU film, so this rumor has legs, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
Dwayne Johnson’s “the rock’s first movie” is a rumor that has been circulating for some time. The rumor states that the upcoming film will be based on the popular video game series, Call of Duty.

While it won’t be revealed until later this year, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently told Men’s Journal that he’ll be starring in another video game adaptation, and while it won’t be revealed until later this year, the rumor mill seems to believe it’ll be based on one of today’s most popular FPS franchises.
Dwayne Johnson’s latest video game movie, according to Giant Freakin Robot (via Eurogamer), is none other than Call of Duty, a live-action version of one of Activision’s (and now Microsoft’s) most coveted IPs. While GFR isn’t the most reliable source, having been labeled “clickbait” by some readers, the concept doesn’t seem too far-fetched for Johnson, who has played military roles before. Activision has apparently been considering creating a Call of Duty cinematic world since 2015, according to the website.
“Activision was talking about developing a Call of Duty cinematic world back in 2015,” according to GFR. “By the middle of 2020, it was reported that movies were no longer a top focus for the studio. […] Microsoft is now acquiring the firm for a low price of $68 billion. These kinds of transactions may cause things to shake up and change business priorities, which might be what Dwayne Johnson viewed as a chance to bring them back on board for a Call of Duty movie.”
“While our source said that Dwayne Johnson is in talks with studios regarding a Call of Duty film, we were unable to confirm the plot of the film.” The initial game was set during World War II, but the series has evolved significantly since then, and it’s unknown where the film will go.”
Black Adam, based on the DC Comics character of the same name, is one of Dwayne Johnson’s next blockbusters. The film will be released on July 29, 2022.
