AMD Confirms Zen 4 Processors and RDNA 3 GPUs Launching This Year
AMD has confirmed that it will be launching new Zen 4 processors and the Radeon RDNA 3 graphics cards later this year. The long-awaited, yet still unannounced follow up to AMD’s current Ryzen 2nd generation of CPU and Vega GPU architecture is finally set to release in late 2019 or early 2020.
The “amd zen 4” is a processor that AMD has confirmed will be launching this year. The Zen 4, which will have 8 cores and 16 threads, will also support AMD’s RDNA 3 GPU.

According to AMD president and CEO Dr. Lisa Su, the company’s next-generation Ryzen “Zen 4” CPUs and Radeon RX “RDNA 3” GPUs will be available this year, according to a statement made during an earnings call yesterday outlining the company’s fourth quarter and full year 2021 financial results. Su also said that AMD has been investing heavily in wafer capacity, substrate capacity, and back-end capacity as an indication to investors that the red team would be able to meet the unavoidably high demand for its next products. AMD’s RDNA 3 series is expected to comprise some of the company’s first GPUs with a multi-chip module architecture, according to previous speculations.

- “Demand for our product is quite high, and we anticipate another year of tremendous growth and market share gains as we scale our existing products and deliver our next generation of Zen 4 CPUs and RDNA 3 GPUs.”
- “We’ve also made major investments to ensure that we’ll have the ability to sustain our expansion in 2022 and beyond.”
- “We’ve made big investments in wafer capacity, substrate capacity, and back-end capacity,” says the company. We are extremely pleased with our progress in the supply chain toward meeting the 2022 forecast, and our aim is to simply have enough supply to fulfill demand.”

- The business has released its financials for 2021, which show a 68 percent increase in total revenue over 2020, with double-digit percentage growth in both GPUs supplied and revenue.
- The industry hasn’t simply had trouble sourcing chips from TSMC—though that will always be a problem—but other portions of the production chain have faced price hikes and supply issues as well.
- To say the least, there is a lot of demand for graphics cards, so if AMD can find a way to provide it, its market share will rise.

- Following the CDNA2 MI200 accelerators launched last year, the Radeon RX 7000 series is expected to be AMD’s first MCM-based GPU architecture for customers.
- The RDNA3 architecture will (initially?) use three Navi 3X GPU designs, with two GPU dies allowing for up to 60 RDNA Workgroups or 15360 Stream Processors.
- The Navi 31 and Navi 32 GPUs are said to have a Multi-Chip-Module architecture, whereas the Navi 33 is rumored to have a monolithic design.
