Grand Theft Auto V Mods: A Whole World of Modifications
GTA V is a game with a vast and vibrant open world. But what do players want most in such games? Remember Skyrim, and you will understand that the larger the world and ecosystem of the game, the more opportunities there are for modding. Today, the GTA 5 mods library contains thousands of modifications, new features and upgrades. Since the release of GTA V, modding has become an integral part of the game and here are its best assets.
Graphic Mods
Graphics have always been one of the strong points of GTA V, even its vanilla version. Remember yourself when you launched the game for the first time, be it on the first day of release or 10+ years later. But thanks to numerous mods, the game becomes even more stunning.
NaturalVision Evolved
This is probably one of the most famous graphic mods for GTA V. NaturalVision Evolved changes the atmosphere of the game, improving lighting and textures and adding new weather effects. The mod makes cities more alive and bright, increases the detail of textures, and makes night and day lighting much more realistic. After all, GTA and the thirst for realism have become even more important for players than the plot and gameplay.
Reshade
This modification improves the game’s color palette and adds new filters that allow you to make the game brighter, foggier or, conversely, gloomier. With Reshade, you can adjust the lighting, shades and contrast to adapt the game to your preferences: a noir vibe, a post-apocalyptic world, sunny weather everywhere, etc. This mod is much easier to master than the previous one but includes only basic aspects (albeit at a new level).
GTA V Redux
Redux is a set of changes and other mods that improve the game’s graphics. It replaces textures with more detailed ones, adds new animations and improves the effects of water, lighting and physics. The mod adds many details, from new movement animations to improved effects of driving cars. All this creates the effect of a complete rework of the visuals.
VisualV
VisualV is a godsend for gamers with weak PCs who are unable to cope with monsters such as NaturalVision Evolved or Reshade. The mod aims to improve the appearance of the game without overloading it by using basic elements, only with their improved versions that are already in the game but not fully implemented.
You can add new features or leave the old ones with an upgrade, but in any case, your PC will breathe smoothly and not overload the GPU.
Mods to Change Gameplay
If you are satisfied with the graphics, then you probably thought about new possibilities in terms of gameplay. The storyline and basic gameplay in GTA 5 are incomparable, but it can always be improved, right?
Real Life Mod
This mod brings elements of real life into GTA V. You have to take care of the character’s needs, such as food, sleep and rest. Also, new elements appear in the game, such as work, study and interaction with other NPCs in a more realistic context. This mod significantly complicates the gameplay. For example, if your character is hungry or tired (and you went on a mission), then at some point, the shooting will become worse, you will not be able to run, etc.
Los Santos Police Department First Response
You’ve probably seen something similar in the RP North, where players can become police officers and keep harmony in Los Santos. LSPDFR is a single-player mod that will allow you to do the same but with simpler controls, ready-made presets, missions and features. You don’t need to speak into the microphone and communicate with NPCs. Everything is in the new functions, so this is a great way to look at the world of GTA from a different side, immersing yourself in the role of a policeman.
Mods for New Cars and Vehicles
Modding in GTA started with cars. This includes transferring real vehicles and adding crazy, ridiculous and, in some cases, inappropriate modifications. But let’s talk about something simple and calm today. Let’s leave crazy mods for next time.
Real Cars Pack
This mod adds real cars to the game, such as sports cars, SUVs, and luxury sedans. Real Cars Pack includes many famous brand models, such as Lamborghini, Ferrari, BMW, and others. These cars not only look amazing but also have unique characteristics, which makes them even more attractive to fans of the car industry.
Vehicle Add-On
The Vehicle Add-On mod allows you to add new cars, motorcycles, and even air and water vehicles to the game. With this mod, you can significantly expand the car park and improve the quality and quantity of vehicles available in the game. Each vehicle has its unique characteristics and models.
All MP Vehicles in SP
Even despite the pile of mods, Rockstar did not stop releasing new ones, but only for GTA Online. Money plays the main role here, and based on the fact that players buy them, developers do not stop. The juiciest cars over the past few years are:
- Grotti Itali Gto;
- Ocelot Pariah;
- Pfister Comet SR;
- Principe deveste eight;
- Dewbauchee Vagner;
- Ocelot xa-21.
But what if you do not want to spend money on them? All MP Vehicles mod allows you to add all the cars from the Rockstar store, but only for single-player gameplay.
Such cars can be either bought by following the standard path or simply spawned through a special command in the console. In any case, the mod is updated regularly, depending on new cars for GTA Online, so keep an eye on the updates.
Modding Tools: Creating and Managing Mods
If you want to create your mods or manage existing ones, you will need special tools, like:
- Script Hook V. The basis for many mods allowing you to work with user scripts. This tool is necessary to add new features and capabilities and support other modifications.
- OpenIV. A program that allows you to work with game files. With OpenIV, you can edit textures, models, sounds and other elements of GTA V and also use it to create your own.
- GTAV Mods Folder. Organizing folders for mods will help you avoid conflicts between mods and run them correctly. It is important to install and manage mods correctly so that the game does not crash.
Installing mods can be a bit complicated, but often, players use automatic programs (ee.g.. Nexus Mod Manager) and rarely resort to manual editing. Also, remember that using mods in GTA Online can get you banned, so it’s important only to use mods in single-player mode.
