The Ancestor Spirit is the game’s most difficult boss, and players must defeat it in order to finish. Although Ancestor Spirit seems to be terrifying, it is much easier to deal with than Elden Ring’s other bosses, such as Godrick and Radahn. Each of the boss’s moves is detailed below, along with how you should respond to them:
- The spirit will leap into the air, execute two midair hops, stop for a minute, and then attempt to land on top of you. To prevent harm, roll towards it as it begins to fall.
- Antler strikes: The monster will use its antlers to unleash numerous two-to-three-hit melee combinations. It may also try to strike you with a single powerful attack. Rolling towards the monster as it is going to attack is an easy way to evade each blow.
- If you stand in front of the spirit, the boss may raise its front legs before attempting to stomp you with them. Simply roll when the strike is going to hit you, like you would with any other attack. To escape harm, you may either roll towards or away from the monster. If you’re behind the boss, instead of trampling you, it’ll attempt kicking you with its hind legs like a horse. To evade the kick, roll backwards.
- During the encounter, the monster will sprinkle the ground with magic on a regular basis. For a few seconds, the magic will linger on the ground. You’ll incur damage if you come into touch with it, but luckily, it’s rather simple to roll or leap over. This move may be performed by the boss both on the ground and in the air.
Melee builds should concentrate on rolling past the Ancestor Spirit’s melee strikes, then receiving a hit or two before resuming the roll. All of the boss’ attacks have a significant amount of ending lag, so you can quickly heal if you take a few hits. If you have some Spirit Ashes, you may use them to draw the boss’s attention away from you so you can get a few more strikes in. The monster will get staggered after taking enough damage, and you’ll be able to deliver a critical hit by striking its left eye. If you’re using a ranged build, fire your choice projectile at the monster as soon as it completes a move; the boss should remain motionless long enough for you to get a decent shot.
You’ll earn 10,000 Runes and the Ancestral Follower Ashes after defeating the Ancestor Spirit. A more powerful variant of this monster, the Regal Ancestor Spirit, may be found in another portion of Elden Ring’s subterranean region and needs you to complete a brief puzzle before fighting it.
